| We at Local #623 know it takes hammers, nails, and lumber to build a strong house. Likewise, our members know that dedication, generosity and the spirit of volunteerism are the tools needed to build a strong community. This is how we have helped make a difference for our communityナ |
When Atlantic Countyメs Carpenters learned help
was needed to build a baseball diamond for disabled
children and adults in Absecon, they grabbed their gear
and pitched in to make the モField of Dreamsヤ
a dream come true. Thanks to their quality craftsmanship,
children who have never held a bat will now experience
the joy of participating in Americaメs favorite
pastime. |

In Atlantic City, the Carpenters donated nearly
50 hours of labor at an estimated contribution
of $20,000 to strip and refurbish the gymnasium floor
at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish Church
and School. With its new floor, the school’s
gym is now a positive sports learning facility where
students are taught the value of teamwork and good
sportsmanship. By letting off some steam in a healthy
way, Atlantic City’s youth learn to control
their anger and dissolve stress through positive reinforcement. |

The Carpentersメ financial contributions are both
significant and varied. To further the advance of healthcare
in our area, union members raised and donated $5,000
to the Americanメs Red Cross Atlantic/Cumberland
Chapter 7th Annual Disaster Relief Telethon. They also
contributed $2,000 to the Bacharach Hospital
Foundation and $1,500 to the Stainton
Society Campaign, which supports the Shore
Memorial healthcare system. This money was directed
toward a new Critical Care Center. Because of exceptional
efforts made by its trade union members, the Carpenters
Union was able to raise more than $50,000 to
the South Jersey Cancer Fund. |
